Position Description
POSITION TITLE: JCHS Head Softball Coach
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of bachelor’s degree with a teaching license. Must be employed as a full-time teacher within Johnson County School System, attain employment with Johnson County Schools, or hold a valid Tennessee teaching license.
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Softball season and off-season work
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Lead the JCHS Softball program and be responsible for the oversight of the program and all related duties (stipend in addition to teacher salary).
- Coordinate with the Athletic Director, Principal, and Supervisor to provide the best athletic opportunities for student-athletes.
- Promote a positive culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, and student growth.
- Organize and supervise practices, games, conditioning, and offseason development activities.
- Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
- Effectively communicate with players, guardians, administration, and community stakeholders.
- Assist with the upkeep, organization, and general maintenance of the softball field and related facilities.
- Ensure compliance with all TSSAA rules, school board policies, and school procedures.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
