Department Overview

The Technology department at Athletes Unlimited ensures our team stays seamlessly connected and secure in a fully remote environment year-round. We provide technical support to ensure our operations run flawlessly during live game days, while simultaneously partnering with departments to design custom automation and AI workflows. Whether we are troubleshooting in the heat of the season or building intelligent systems to streamline our internal operations, our mission is to provide a reliable, innovative digital workspace that operates seamlessly behind the scenes.

Project Overview

Modernize and optimize footage for around 10-12 AUSL games per week by integrating structured play-by-play data into YouTube. The goal is to transform "passive video" into "searchable data" that Google Gemini and YouTube’s discovery algorithms can index and cite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Metadata Retrofitting: Audit this year’s game footage. Extract play-by-play data (from our API) and integrate it into YouTube descriptions using Video Chapters.
  • Accessibility Enhancement: Convert game logs into .srt (SubRip) caption files and upload them to ensure all on-field action is searchable via transcript indexing.
  • Structured Summarization: Write concise, SEO-driven game summaries for every video, prioritizing the "Lead" paragraph for AI scraping.
  • Thumbnail/UI Optimization: Ensure consistent naming conventions across the archive to improve "Entity Linking" (connecting players to their stats across different years).

Learning Outcomes

  • Multimedia Processing: Gain hands-on experience in media conversion workflows, specifically mastering the technical process of turning game logs into industry-standard .srt (SubRip) caption files.
  • Database Management: Learn how to structure and organize digital assets within an archive to ensure high discoverability and long-term data integrity.
  • Accessibility Standards: Understand the importance of searchable transcripts and closed captioning in making sports media accessible to diverse audiences
  • Rising college senior pursuing a degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or a related field
  • Ability to work with APIs to extract play-by-play data and integrate it into platforms like YouTube
  • Understanding of how to audit historical footage and use Video Chapters for metadata retrofitting
  • Knowledge of converting game logs into .srt (SubRip) caption files to ensure searchable transcripts
  • Ability to write concise, SEO-driven summaries and lead paragraphs optimized for AI scraping
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

The rate for this position is $20/hr.
