Description
The Athletics Department is currently accepting applications for a part time:
-Interim Women's Head Softball Coach

This is an interim adjunct teaching and interim Softball Head Coaching assignment in the Athletic Department. The teaching assignment may include courses offered in either onsite, online and hybrid format, evening and/or Saturday classes.
The assignment may entail attendance and coaching of all Softball games and events Sunday-Saturday depending on schedule.

Start Date: Summer 2026
Examples of Duties

Teach Athletics and Physical Education (ATHPE) courses using various teaching methods including demonstrations, active learning strategies and lectures in a classroom or laboratory setting.
Maintain records of attendance, census, grades, etc.

Maintain regular posted office hours and be accessible to students.
Provide an environment conducive to effective learning.
Participate in staff development and continuing education activities that are designed to maintain and develop currency in the field, pedagogy, and student support strategies.

Work to achieve the college's Institutional, Program, and Student Learning Outcomes in support of Glendale Community College's Mission Statement.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all employees and others encountered in the course of work.
Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Organize, recruit, coach and teach student-athletes within the framework of the 3C2A Constitution and GCCD.
Ensure compliance with all regulations, rules, and policies governing intercollegiate athletics as established by the 3C2A, Western State Conference, and Glendale Community College.
Foster positive relationships with student-athletes, college staff, community members, and support organizations.
Uphold district and 3C2A standards of professional conduct and ethics.
Assist in preparing and maintaining the team athletic budget.·
Prepare classroom and field facilities for instruction, practices, and games/events.
Attend and participate in Western State Conference, California Community College Softball Coaches Association (3CFCA), and 3C2A meetings and events.
Lead public relations and fundraising activities supporting softball and the athletic program.
Build relationships with high school coaches, media representatives, and equipment vendors. 
Provide vendor recommendations and quotes for softball supplies and uniforms.
Recruit qualified assistant coaches for practices, competitions, and class sessions.
Promote assistant coach education and ensure compliance with all athletic program regulations and policies.
Manage assistant coaches and student workers.
Attend all required Athletic Department meetings.
Perform other instructional and athletic-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Any Bachelor's or higher AND two years of experience in coaching
OR
any Associate's degree AND six years of experience in coaching
OR
the equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications
Teaching experience in kinesiology, physical education, and health education.

Experience as a head coach or four years of assistant coaching experience in higher education.

Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to compliance with NCAA, 3C2A, state and other applicable regulations.
Knowledge about or experience working with students who are underrepresented in higher academia, with the goal of reducing equity gaps.

Possess a class C California Driver License with provision to drive a 12-seat passenger van.

Experience in fundraising.

Instructor-level First Aid or CPR certification from the American Red Cross.
Knowledge about or experience working with students who are underrepresented in higher academia, with the goal of reducing equity gaps.
Teaching experience that reflects innovative pedagogy, including active learning and culturally responsive teaching practices.

Hourly Range: $68.14 - $80.66
