Interim Head Women's Basketball Coach
Suffolk UniversityThis position is responsible for overseeing all duties associated with running a competitive DIII Women’s Basketball program. Additional responsibilities within the Athletic Department and Division of Student Affairs will be a responsibility.
This position is full-time and time-limited, beginning at the time of hire and continuing through June 30, 2027. Recruitment for the permanent, full-time position is anticipated to begin in Spring 2027. The individual selected for this interim role is encouraged to apply for the permanent position and will be considered through the standard recruitment process, if interested.
Serving as Head Coach for the Women’s Basketball Program. Providing vision and leadership in the development of a competitive DIII basketball program. Daily operation of the basketball program which requires the ability to demonstrate basketball related skills and develop a highly structured practice program. The Head Women’s Basketball Coach works with and motivates student-athletes on and off the court to help them reach goals and maximize their potential. Utilizes knowledge, rules and skills of women’s basketball, including NCAA rules and Division III philosophy when performing job responsibilities
Develops a successful comprehensive recruiting philosophy and initiatives related to the recruitment and retention of qualified student athletes by meeting goals for student visits, securing applications, deposits and program enrollment that maintains a healthy roster.
Coordinates team travel.
Supports the success of the student athletes in the women’s basketball program by performing community outreach and alumni engagement initiatives. Participates in fundraising initiatives for the Athletic Department and the women’s basketball program.
Serving as a member of the Student Services Division the Women’s Basketball Coach will have expectations of a broader campus involvement which may involve committees, events, and requirements outside of the Athletic Department. Candidate should have a global view of their involvement in the Suffolk community. Requirements/Qualifications (examples):
Bachelor’s degree required.
Proven track record of success. 3-5 years of successful college coaching experience. Head Coaching experience is preferred.
Knowledge of NCAA and CNE rules and regulations.
Ability to effectively manage a basketball budget and fundraise.
This position requires afternoon, night, weekend hours combined with business hours and some moderate travel.
A valid driver’s license.
Certification in CPR, and AED.
The salary range for this role is $55,000.
