Head Women's Flag Football Coach
United States Sports UniversityDaphne, Alabama, The Head Women’s Flag Football Coach is a key leader in establishing and developing the Women’s Flag Football program from its inception. This position is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and competitive success of the program, directing all aspects of coaching, recruitment, program development, and compliance with institutional, conference, and national governing body regulations. The Head Coach is expected to lead the university team in all aspects of student-athlete success by modeling a championship program rooted in character, communication, and excellence, both on the field and in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruit, retain, and develop female student-athletes to build and sustain a competitive roster.
2. Maintain ongoing communication with prospective student-athletes, their families, admissions, and campus partners, while fostering retention, personal growth, leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship among current team members.
3. Plan, organize, and conduct all team practices, training sessions, and competitive play, including on- and off-field coaching and game-day preparation.
4. Develop and implement strategic game plans, coaching philosophies, and scouting reports to maximize team performance.
5. Teach sport fundamentals, techniques, rules, tactical awareness, and character-building principles while providing individual and group instruction and evaluating student-athlete performance.
6. Support and monitor the academic progress of student-athletes in partnership with Academic Services, promoting persistence toward degree completion and overall student-athlete success.
7. Oversee all administrative and organizational aspects of the program, including budgeting, scheduling, travel coordination, equipment needs, and completion of required office work such as game contracts and reports.
8. Lead the planning and oversight of the program budget and ensure effective use of resources.
9. Ensure full compliance with all institutional, conference, and national governing body rules and regulations.
10. Represent the program through public relations efforts, alumni engagement, community outreach, and campus visibility as a respected leader.
11. Organize and participate in camps, clinics, and promotional events to support program growth.
12. Maintain open communication with all stakeholders and contribute to the overall development and success of the program and athletic department.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
Experience in coaching flag football (2-5 years); collegiate level coaching preferred.
Commitment to adhering to all policies, rules, and regulations of USSU and its athletic governing bodies by representing the university at the highest level.
Ability to work cooperatively with other administrators, coaches, students, faculty and staff members, community leaders, and parents.
Ability to join and engage with the USSU family for any and all campus events.
