Job Summary
JPS Jackson High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our varsity softball program as the Head Coach. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the game, demonstrated coaching experience, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This full-time position involves not only coaching but also mentoring players, developing training programs, and representing the school within the community.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the varsity softball team, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Plan and conduct practices, games, and tournaments, ensuring a competitive yet supportive environment for all players.
- Recruit and evaluate student-athletes for the varsity team, fostering a culture of inclusivity and excellence.
- Collaborate with athletic department staff, parents, and community members to promote the softball program and enhance player development.
- Monitor and assess the academic performance of student-athletes, ensuring compliance with school and district policies.
- Organize and oversee fundraising activities and community outreach programs to support the softball program.
- Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and conducive to training and competition.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay updated on best practices and new developments in the sport.
- Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, emphasizing the importance of academics, character, and personal growth.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, specifically in softball.
- Strong knowledge of the rules, strategies, and techniques of softball.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during the athletic season.
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community.
