Chelan High School has an opening for a Girls Softball Head Coach starting the 2026-2027 season. We are seeking a passionate coach committed to enhancing educational opportunities for students through athletics, while promoting the Chelan Athletic Department core values of being Motivated, Open Minded, Respectful and Engaged. Salary range is $5,959 - $7,202 based on prior, documented, school district experience in the same sport. 

Overview of Coaching Staff Expectations:

⮚  Responsible for leading and administering a program that is organized, well prepared, and operated with integrity. Coaches should use athletics to teach valuable life skills and provide an exceptional educational experience for the student-athletes.

⮚  Develop and maintain positive relationships with the student-athletes. Strive to be a quality role model that the student-athletes feel comfortable going to for mentorship, always putting student-athletes’ needs at the forefront and vigorously working to serve their needs.

⮚  Commitment to promoting the vision, values, and mission of the school district and athletic department.

⮚  Demonstrate support of the entire athletic department.

⮚  Complete all required paperwork, certifications, and WIAA rules clinics.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

⮚  Prior coaching and/or playing experience in the sport at the high school or college level.

⮚  Plan, organize, and execute off season, summer, and pre-season training programs.

⮚ Proven ability to coach at the high school level.

⮚  Ability to be energetic, motivated and willing to commit to the required time to have a successful    program in and out of season.

⮚  Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism on the field and outside the game of softball.

⮚  Communicate with school administrators, parents, and community members.

⮚  Ability to teach fundamental skills and team concepts of softball.

⮚  Must promote multi-sport participation for athletes.

⮚  Communicate, and collaborate with school strength and conditioning teachers to improve the strength and abilities of all student athletes.

⮚  The Head Softball Coach is responsible for ensuring that the softball field and surrounding team       areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and game-ready condition throughout the season including game days. This includes completing routine field maintenance independently or coordinating assistance when necessary. 

⮚  Ability to work with student athletes of different backgrounds, ages, and ability levels.

⮚  Willingness to work with staff.

⮚  Valid first aid and CPR card, or willingness to obtain upon hiring.

⮚  FBI, Washington State Patrol and Sexual Misconduct background clearance.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

⮚  Head coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.

⮚  Experience in developing a positive relationship with local youth and middle school programs.

⮚  Understanding of WIAA regulations.

⮚  Experience with fundraising through ASB or Booster Clubs.
