Head Coach, Women's Flag Football

THE OPPORTUNITY

Eckerd College is currently hiring for the position of Head Women’s Flag Football Coach for the inaugural Spring 2028 flag football season. This position will join our Athletics team at our waterfront campus along Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of our relationship-focused community. The Eckerd College Tritons are members of NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference, with 19 teams competing across a variety of varsity sports.

As Head Flag Football Coach, you will direct all facets of the program through planning and implementing all training and conditioning of student-athletes, coaching and instruction, recruiting, promotions and public relations, assuring academic progress, budget preparation, administration and management, and scheduling.

The Head Coach demonstrates extensive knowledge of sport-specific fundamentals, techniques, and strategies, and possesses knowledge of NCAA compliance rules. The incumbent must have the ability to identify, recruit, and retain competitive student-athletes and cultivate positive relationships with athletes, alumni, parents, and donors. The position frequently requires prolonged periods of moving around campus facilities and frequently requires after-hours work and travel.

Eckerd will change your life, you can change the world ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES OF THE POSITION                                             

Manage daily operations of the women's flag football program including planning and conducting practice/training sessions, leading the team in contests, and developing players both on and off the field.

Organize and coordinate all recruitment of potential women's flag football student-athletes in cooperation with admissions and within NCAA guidelines.

Monitor the academic progress of each women's flag football student-athlete and provide assistance and tutoring when needed.

Hire and supervise assistant coach and volunteer assistants.

Develop, implement, and maintain team policies and procedures.

Schedule the allowable number of non-conference contests and work with SSC on conference contests.

Manage the program budget, purchase all necessary equipment and uniforms.

Oversee arrangements for away contests including travel, lodging, meals, and athlete supervision and responsibilities.

Plan and execute program outreach efforts with the campus community, program alumni and families, and the local community.

Assist the Director of Athletics in fundraising efforts, development of the Triton Fund, and sponsorships for the annual dinner auction.

 QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                      

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years of experience as a flag football coach in collegiate, high school, and/or club athletics; experience playing flag football and recruiting college-level student-athletes or assisting with the recruiting process.

Valid driver's license. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of flag football fundamentals, techniques, and strategies.

Knowledge of NCAA compliance rules.

Ability to identify, recruit, and retain competitive student-athletes.

Skills in both written and verbal communication.

Skills in cultivating relationships with athletes, alumni, parents, and donors.

Knowledge of social media platforms and ability to use social media to promote the programs and reach potential student-athletes.

Skills in organization and time management.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Frequently required to move and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Frequent prolonged periods of moving around campus.

Frequently communicate with others in person or via email, video conference, chat applications, and/or telephone.

Frequent after-hours work (early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays) and travel (day, overnight) required.

Frequently works outdoor practices and games in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Occasionally operates motor vehicles including golf carts.
