General Introduction: The Bishop of Grand Rapids is the visible head and source of unity in the particular Church entrusted to his pastoral care (CCC 1594). In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring while functioning in his role as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop trusts chosen collaborators (clerics, religious and lay people) to share in the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each employee helps to extend the ministry of the local Pastor in particular ways as outlined in this position description.

Position Summary: The Varsity Volleyball coach is in charge of running the Varsity Girls Volleyball Team, developing players, conducting practices, and coaching effective gameplay. Most importantly, the coach is responsible for the spiritual formation of the young women entrusted to his/her care, making sure to interpret and contextualize both good/bad volleyball experiences, praying at practices and games, and directing all efforts for the glory of God.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

-Attending all volleyball practices and games of the varsity team.

-Ensuring quality volleyball instruction by preparing for practices and games and executing a well run gameplan.

-Being a good role model for the girls of Christian charity and dignity.

-Well-written communications sent out to the team at the very least once per week about upcoming practices and games.

-Attending the Fall coaches meeting

Qualifications:

Required

-Significant volleyball experience

-A demonstrable love for the game of volleyball.

-A practicing Catholic whose public life is lived in conformity with the moral teachings of the Church.

-A desire to evangelize and spiritually form students.

-Commitment to the Catholic mission of the Academy and willingness to sign the “Faculty Memorandum of Understanding” and swear the “Oath of Fidelity” to the Catholic faith.
