Here's a summary of responsibilities: The Associate Director, Procurement serves as a strategic procurement partner to senior business and Finance leadership, partnering closely with the SVP/Chief of Finance and senior leaders across the organization to develop and execute enterprise-aligned procurement strategies. This role provides strategic leadership across sourcing, supplier management, purchasing, contracting, and procurement operations, ensuring the organization maximizes value, manages risk, and maintains strong financial and operational discipline. The Associate Director translates organizational priorities and business needs into actionable procurement strategies, leading sourcing initiatives and leveraging market intelligence, spend analytics, supplier performance data, and financial insights to inform and guide decision-making. With a consistent pulse on business needs and supplier markets, the Associate Director identifies opportunities to optimize spend, improve processes, mitigate supply and vendor risk, and strengthen the organization's purchasing capabilities. Through strong cross-functional partnership and influence, the Associate Director elevates procurement acumen across the organization, aligns stakeholders around sourcing strategies and key trade-offs, and promotes transparency, accountability, and disciplined resource allocation in support of short-term operational needs and long-term organizational goals.

Strategic Procurement & Business Partnership (50%)
• Serve as a strategic procurement advisor to business leaders and their teams, providing expertise and thought leadership on sourcing strategies, supplier selection, contracting, purchasing decisions, and procurement execution.
• Establish proactive relationships with stakeholders to anticipate business needs, identify opportunities, and address procurement risks.
• Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with organizational objectives, business priorities, budgets, and operational requirements.
• Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs, challenge assumptions, evaluate alternatives, and develop sourcing approaches that maximize value, quality, service, and efficiency.
• Lead and oversee strategic sourcing activities for assigned business groups, including requirements development, market research, competitive bidding, supplier evaluation, negotiations, selection, and contract award recommendations.
• Ensure sourcing decisions are data-driven, competitive, and aligned with organizational policies and objectives.
• Analyze spend, supplier, market, and operational data to identify cost savings, value creation, process improvement, supplier consolidation, and risk mitigation opportunities.
• Translate complex procurement information into clear insights and recommendations for business and senior leadership.
• Partner with Sport & Athlete Services, Sport Operations, Logistics, Finance leadership, and other internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute procurement strategies supporting the Games.
• Provide procurement planning, sourcing support, supplier insights, and recommendations to support Games budgeting, operational readiness, and execution.
• Serve as a strategic liaison between Procurement and assigned business groups, communicating procurement policies, programs, processes, and initiatives.
• Provide guidance on procurement requirements and determine when to engage Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Operations, or other internal partners to address complex business or supplier matters.
Procurement Operations, Supplier Management & Team Leadership (50%)
• Oversee procurement activities for assigned business groups, including purchasing, sourcing, contracting, supplier onboarding, purchase orders, and procurement compliance.
• Ensure procurement activities are conducted efficiently, consistently, and in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable requirements.
• Lead complex and high-value procurement initiatives, including competitive solicitations, requests for proposals, supplier negotiations, contract development, and strategic purchasing decisions.
• Develop sourcing scenarios and recommendations and present findings to senior leadership as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain effective supplier management practices, including supplier selection, performance management, relationship management, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations, service levels, quality standards, pricing, and other key performance indicators.
• Identify and mitigate procurement and supplier risks, including supply continuity, vendor concentration, contractual exposure, pricing volatility, performance issues, and compliance concerns.
• Develop appropriate mitigation strategies and escalate material risks to senior leadership when necessary.
• Develop and implement procurement processes, tools, standards, and performance measures that improve efficiency, transparency, compliance, and stakeholder experience.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, leverage technology, improve data quality, and strengthen procurement controls.
• Provide direct supervision to procurement professionals, including hiring, mentoring, coaching, and motivating team members to maximize individual and collective performance.
• Establish clear expectations, foster collaboration and accountability, provide regular feedback, and effectively manage team performance.
• Develop and maintain procurement reporting and analytics, including spend analysis, sourcing pipeline, savings and value tracking, supplier performance, contract status, and other key procurement metrics.
• Provide regular reporting and insights to Procurement and organizational leadership.
• Research, prepare, and lead special procurement projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
• Support other divisions with sourcing, supplier, contracting, purchasing, and procurement-related projects as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Finance, Operations, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CPSM, C.P.M., CSCP, or equivalent preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, purchasing, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience leading complex procurement initiatives.
• Significant experience developing and executing strategic sourcing strategies, competitive bid processes, RFPs/RFQs, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract awards.
• Experience managing complex, high-value, and/or multi-year procurement initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, suppliers, and business requirements.
• Experience partnering with business leaders and cross-functional teams to develop procurement strategies aligned with organizational objectives, budgets, and operational requirements.
• Experience managing supplier relationships, including supplier selection, performance management, negotiations, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
• Experience analyzing organizational spend, supplier performance, market conditions, and procurement data to identify cost savings, value creation, efficiencies, and risk mitigation opportunities.
• Experience developing and implementing procurement policies, procedures, processes, controls, and best practices.
• Experience working with ERP and/or procure-to-pay systems and procurement technology.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and developing procurement professionals and/or cross-functional project teams.
• Experience supporting large-scale events, complex operations, sports organizations, hospitality, logistics, or similarly complex and highly time-sensitive environments preferred.
• Experience managing domestic and international suppliers and procurement activities preferred.
• Strong strategic procurement and sourcing expertise with demonstrated business acumen.
• Ability to develop and execute innovative procurement strategies that balance cost, quality, service, risk, and stakeholder requirements.
• Ability to influence and drive work through others without direct oversight.
• Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and partnerships at all levels of an organization, from executive leadership to operational and direct-service employees.
• Strong negotiation, supplier management, and contract management skills.
• Ability to analyze complex spend, supplier, market, and operational data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Ability to balance listening and understanding stakeholder needs with providing independent procurement expertise and recommendations.

• Strong understanding of procurement principles, sourcing methodologies, purchasing processes, supplier management, and procurement controls.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint capabilities; proficiency with procurement, ERP, spend analytics, and/or business intelligence tools preferred.

Here's some more information you need to know:
Hiring pay range $100,000 - $110,000 per year. This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week. Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
