Assistant Women’s Water Polo Coach

Job Duties

The Assistant Water Polo Coach reports to the Head Coach and is prepared to assist in the administration, supervision, and development of the sports program. This position supports the decisions made by the Head Coach and executes the assigned duties with a positive attitude. Essential duties include but are not limited to:

Recruiting: Evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes who fit VMI's academic and military environment.

Player Support: Monitor and support the academic progress and personal development of cadet-athletes.

Coaching & Training: Help design and run practices, teach game strategies, and build individual skills for student-athletes.

Administration: Assist with team travel, equipment maintenance, and day-to-day operations.

Compliance: Ensure all program activities strictly follow VMI, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Additional duties: as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.

Knowledge of academic eligibility rules.

Knowledge of and adherence to safe practices associated with coaching the sport and hosting games, practices and tournaments

Effective interpersonal and communication (oral, written, listening) skills.

Knowledge of and ability to comply with NCAA, conference, and Institute rules and regulations.

Display respect for VMI cadets, faculty, and administrators. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Possess the ability to recruit in Virginia and the surrounding states. Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive state vehicles in Virginia and surrounding states.

Additional Considerations

Prefer experience coaching collegiate-age or younger elite-level athletes.
