Assistant Women’s Softball Coach
Queens CollegeQueens College is seeking an Assistant Women's Softball Coach to assist with the leadership, development, and day-to-day operations of its NCAA Division II softball program, which competes in the East Coast Conference. The position is available as either a part-time or full-time position. The part-time position offers an annual salary ranging from $15,000 to $20,000, while the full-time position offers an annual salary ranging from $35,000 to $40,000. Salary may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
The Assistant Women's Softball Coach will work closely with the Head Coach and Department of Athletics to support the overall development and success of the softball program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Assisting the Head Coach with planning and conducting team practices and training sessions.
•Providing individual instruction and helping student-athletes develop their technical and fundamental skills.
•Assisting with game preparation, scouting, strategy, and in-game coaching.
•Supporting the recruitment of prospective student-athletes through campus visits, recruiting events, communication, and other recruiting activities.
•Assisting with the evaluation of prospective student-athletes and maintaining appropriate recruiting records.
•Supporting the retention and development of current student-athletes.
•Assisting with team travel arrangements, game-day preparation, equipment, uniforms, and other team needs.
•Helping coordinate team activities, community service opportunities, fundraising activities, and alumni events.
•Maintaining positive relationships with student-athletes and supporting their academic and personal development.
•Assisting with required team records, administrative paperwork, and other program documentation.
•Communicating regularly with the Head Coach regarding team operations, student-athlete needs, and program activities.
•Supporting the Head Coach in maintaining a positive, respectful, and professional team environment.
•Ensuring that all coaching and recruiting activities comply with NCAA, East Coast Conference (ECC), CUNY, and Queens College rules, regulations, and policies.
•Performing other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.
The Assistant Coach will be expected to serve as a positive representative of Queens College Athletics and promote the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes.
Upon appointment, the coach must successfully complete all required Queens College, CUNY, NCAA, and Department of Athletics training and compliance requirements. These may include NCAA recruiting education, defensive driving, sexual harassment prevention training, and First Aid/CPR certification.

The Queens College Department of Athletics provides varsity, intramural, and recreational athletic opportunities to members of the campus community. Queens College sponsors 15 varsity sports at the NCAA Division II level, with the Knights competing predominantly in the East Coast Conference.

The Assistant Women's Softball Coach may also be expected to participate in Department of Athletics activities, meetings, special events, fundraising initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of softball fundamentals, training techniques, and game strategy.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and a demonstrated commitment to compliance.
Knowledge of and commitment to Title IX requirements.
The ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and campus departments.
The ability to assist with the recruitment, development, and retention of quality student-athletes.
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching staff.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with at least four years of collegiate coaching experience, particularly at the NCAA Division I or Division II level. Preference will also be given to candidates with a demonstrated history of developing competitive programs, improving team performance, and successfully developing student-athletes.
