Coaching at Lakeside High School

This position supports the day-to-day experience of student athletes in the Lakeside High School girls volleyball program. The 2nd Assistant Volleyball Coach helps create a positive, structured environment where athletes can learn the game, build confidence, and continue developing as teammates and competitors.

Much of the work happens through presence and consistency. Practices. Game preparation. Encouragement after a tough point. Reinforcing expectations. Helping students stay focused, improve their skills, and represent Lakeside High School with effort and sportsmanship.

At Lakeside, coaching is connected to the broader school community. Coaches are expected to support student athletes in a way that challenges them, keeps them safe, and helps them grow. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys working directly with students, supporting the head coach’s program expectations, and contributing to a team culture built on effort, respect, and accountability.

Salary: The current 2025–2026 salary range for the position is: Min. $2,738 to Max. $3,650. Salary placement will be at Step 0 of the Coaches Agreement unless documentation of experience is received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Collective Bargaining Agreement and Salary Schedules can be reviewed from the Human Resources page of the Nine Mile Falls School District www.9mile.org. Classified, Substitute staff who would be in an overtime situation (more than 40 hours per week in cumulative work hours) if they received this position, may not be eligible for this opening.

Nature and Scope of Position:  (1 or 2 sentence summary of position)

The 2nd Assistant Girls Volleyball Coach supports the operation of the Lakeside High School girls volleyball program under the direction of the Head Coach and Athletic Director. This position assists with practices, skill development, supervision, game preparation, and student-athlete support throughout the season.

The position requires sound judgment, positive communication, safe coaching practices, and the ability to work cooperatively within the volleyball coaching staff. The coach must maintain required certifications and support the program in a manner consistent with WIAA requirements, district expectations, and the Coaches Agreement.

Position Reports To: Devin Bauer - Athletic Director, in coordination with the Head Volleyball Coach

Primary Job Functions

  • Assist the Head Volleyball Coach with the Lakeside High School girls volleyball program.
  • Support practices focused on skill development, teamwork, conditioning, and safe participation.
  • Provide instruction and feedback to student-athletes in a manner that supports learning and improvement.
  • Assist with game preparation, drills, warmups, and other team activities as assigned.
  • Reinforce team expectations, sportsmanship, effort, and respect for the game.
  • Supervise athletes during practices, games, travel, and related activities with attention to safety and well-being.
  • Support communication with students, families, staff, and the Athletic Director as appropriate.
  • Assist with equipment use, setup, cleanup, and inventory as requested.
  • Work cooperatively with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to support a consistent program culture.
  • Model positive relationships, appropriate conduct, and pride in representing Lakeside High School.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Required Qualifications (Traits, Education, Experience, Training, physical requirements, etc.):

  • First Aid/CPR Card
  • WSP/FBI Fingerprint Clearance
  • Be a High School Graduate or have completed a graduation equivalency diploma (GED) program.
  • High school students may serve as middle school volunteer assistant coaches during the designated middle school season when under the direct supervision of the middle school coach. These high school students must meet WIAA coaches standards minimum requirements and hold a valid First Aid Certification and a valid CPR card.
  • Ability to obtain required WIAA clock hours
  • Successful experience in coaching basketball at the secondary, collegiate, or club level.
  • Knowledge of effective and safe sport techniques.
  • Great sportsmanship, positive relationships, and effective communication with students, families, and staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and build a highly successful sports program.
