Girls Volleyball Coach

Position Title: Girls Volleyball Coach
Department/Section: Mount Elden Middle School
Supervisor: Athletic Director/ Principal
Salary: Special Service Contract - $1,000.00
The girls' volleyball coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and developing a positive and competitive middle school athletic program. This role focuses on teaching fundamental skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character while creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for student-athletes. Coaches work closely with the athletic director, the after school activities coordinator, school administration, staff, students, and families to support the overall mission of the school.
Job Summary:
- Plan, organize, and lead all practices and team activities
- Collaborate with other coaches
- Teach sport-specific fundamentals, rules, and strategies appropriate for middle school athletes
- Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect at all times
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes growth, effort, and learning
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, travel, and team events
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents/guardians, school staff, and administration
- Ensure compliance with school, league, and district policies and procedures
- Maintain attendance, equipment inventories, uniforms, and basic records as required
- Model professionalism and serve as a positive role model for students
- Prioritize student safety, including proper warm-ups, conditioning, and injury protocols
Qualifications:
- Experience coaching or participating in the sport at the youth, middle school, or higher level
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work positively with middle school-aged students
- Knowledge of age-appropriate training techniques and skill development
- Ability to manage team dynamics and support student growth both on and off the court
- Required background checks and district/school clearances
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required
- Teaching or coaching experience preferred but not required
Working Conditions:

Practices and matches occur after school hours and may include evenings and occasional weekends
- Practices are Monday through Thursday from 3:30 - 5:00 pm
- Matches are one day/week
- Due to our limited court space & time allocated for practices/matches, depending on how many student-athletes join, teams may only practice one time per week, with one match per week, equalling two days per week for the overall commitment.
- No practices or matches on Fridays
- Work is performed indoors
- Physical activity is required, including standing, walking, running, and demonstrating skills
- Seasonal position aligned with the athletic calendar
High school diploma or equivalent certification required. All employees are subject to a criminal background check.
